Default 5.3 truck heads

What is the advantage going to 5.3 truck heads ? Over a stock head.

More flow, compression, and power if used on a motor larger than a 5.3L engine.

Did you have a specific question in mind, or more of an open ended one?

I bought a car with a 383 in it and it has 5.3 truck heads that have been CNC machined and have 2.055 intake valves. Im just new to an ls1 and didnt know the advantage of the truck head. Bigger runners i guess?

Thanks Steve

The 5.3 will bump compression on a stock 5.7 to ~10.7:1. The 5.3 runners are smaller on a 5.7 head, but with the same amount of casting in both, there is more metal to take out with the 5.3, leaving the porter more room to shape the runners for better velocity and flow. The 5.3's though don't offer as much piston/valve clearance though.
