Just swapped cams and after I torued all the rockers back down I noticed on some of them you can put your finger on the back of the rocker above the pushrod and push down, raising the lifter off the valve. When you do this it has somewhat of a "hydraulic" feel if that makes any sense. It feels like your compressing the lifter when you do this.
I didn't notice before but I don't believe this is normal. The base circle of the cam that I installed is .033" smaller which would mean I would need a .0165 longer pushrod. Since they don't make that I thought the lifters would compensate for that small of a change.
Not every rocker will do this but about half of them will. Are my lifters screwed? Do I need longer pushrods? Or will they be OK once the engine has started and the lifters pump back up?
Thanks in advance.
Dave
