Default anyone ever hear of doing this to stop oil consumption?

mixing 5 quarts of 10w-30 and a quart of 50 wt

it sounds stupid to me i've always been told not to mix different weights yet some guy on ls1.com wants to do it. i want to make sure i'm right. i think that the factory recommended oil is just fine and that we shouldn't no matter how smart we are try to out smart an engineer who has a college degree in that sort of stuff. i'm think that they should stick to the factory recommended oil and stop the consumtion some other way. what'd you guys think?

Go with your gut-feeling; it's correct.

Excessive oil consumption (define that!) results from different things. You need to find the cause.

its not a problem for my car.no oil consumption problems to date with 49,130 on the odometer.

i just saw someone asking about that and wanted to see if anyone else did that. like i said just curious to see if this guys asking for trouble personally i think that the whole idea of mixing oils is stupid and is asking for trouble. but this guy and some others on ls1.com were talking about how much it helped. i want to know if they are looking at potential engine problems from such a stupid idea.

i can't define it cause its not on my car and if it ever did happen i wouldn't fix it by mixing oils. just want to hear your opinions on this subject.

Cody you are right about not mixing oils, as for that guy on LS1.com, he is right where he belongs over there and not on here! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
