Default New to the cam idea

I am new to the idea of installing a cam in my car. I would like something that is kind of mild. I really like the sound of a cammed car, so sound is also important. What are some good choices? What kind of power can I expect? Also, about how much are they to get installed? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

A mild cam will not the you the lopey sound you seem to desire unless your idle is low. For a six speed car, a 220/220 112 would give you a good balance of lope and mildness.

install (including installing springs and pushrods) is around $400 +/- $100.

Try some sound files
http://ls1info.com/download.php

I have the hotcam kit.. I got that one because
I was unsure with all the choices and I liked
the idea that it had springs , cam, and I got
all the gaskets thrown in from pace parts for
around $418 delivered ( may 2001) .

to start LSA 112 will be lopey and 114+ will have
a better idle..
