Lifter install question, help needed ASAP.
Hey everyone, I'm installing the lifters back into my car, and I've kept them in the proper order. However, I noticed that one side of the lifter has a small hole in it (for oil draining, I assume). This might seem insignificant, but does it matter whether or not this hole is oriented to the front or the back of the engine?
The service manual doesn't say anything about it either way.
Thanks!

Not for pressure release, but the opposite. That hole is the oil supply hole for the lifter and the valvetrain. It doesn't matter which way the hole points to, but it makes me feel better to have them all face the same way on all engines I build. I face them all to the back. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
I had the same ? when I did my H/C. I installed them all to the rear, but have since been told it doesn't matter. I agree they should all face the same direction. No probs one year and many passes later............
