Tr224/112 vs Tr224/114
I consider myself reasonably smart and Ive been reading all of the posts, but does 2 degrees of lobe separation angle make that big of a difference with these cams? I notice the A4 guys go with the 114lsa and the M6 guys go with the 112lsa. I dont wanna seem uninformed or stupid but does this have something to do with programming between the cars or the converter. Thanks for helping me clear this up.

Re: Tr224/112 vs Tr224/114
al tuners recommend he 112 fr m6 cars so the powerband is lower, the 114 they recommend for the auto cars. the 2 degrees will make a differencein the powerband for sure.. just think if u had a 226 degree at 50 duration cam and how much choppier the idle would be. im sure someone can explain it better than i can

Yes, the 112LSA will peak a little sooner but I think the reason they reccomed a 114 for A4 cars is because of idle quality. It is harder to get an A4 car to idle with a choppy 112 LSA cam.

A 114 will idle much better in an A4 than a 112 will. The 112 will work fine though with tuning in an A4. I have the 114 in my A4 and love it. It has a smooth idle but not alot of lope to it. If you want radical thump then I wouldnt advise the 114. I shift it around 6600 and its brought me to a best of 12.07 @ 113 on Nittos, lowered, 3.73's, LS6 intake, shorties, and SY3500. I dont think you can go wrong with either grind though. I have read very few complaints on either of them.

I agree completely with the other guys regarding idle quality. The greater overlap due to the tighter LSA lowers manifold vacuum causing a rougher idle. 2 degrees in LSA make a big difference.
Other specs being equal, a cam with a tighter LSA (e.g. 112 vs. 114) in the 220 degree range in intake duration will give you higher peak torque and more torque throughout the 2000-5000 RPM midrange than a cam with a wider LSA. HP theoretically falls off a bit faster past peak.
Essentially your powerband is peakier, comeing on stronger, faster and tapering off sooner.
A tigher LSA is great on an M6 because you can really feel when you're "on the cam" and in your sweet spot. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

these cams are ground with 4 degress of advance built in. degree the cam in with 2 or 4 degees retard to change intake center line and idle changes so does power band.
