Limits as in what? I would change them as soon as you do a cam swap.

For high lift and high rpm, the caddy racing lifters seem to be a great option.

I'd second the caddy lifters as well. GM spent a good amount of money engineering them specifically for ls1 applications that spin high rpms for sustained time intervals. Works for me. Plus they are roughly $250 shipped to your door from SDPC.

Stock lifters here and spin mine to 7,000 no probs yet. I have 50,000 miles on them and about 2500 miles with the cam and a lot of 7,000 rpm pulls!!

'99 LS1 shortblock with upgraded bolts, ported LS6 pump, LS2 Tchain, big cam/heads, with stock lifters/rocker arms and spun it to 7100rpm hundreds of times in the 20K miles I drove it. No signs of wear. (supposedly 23K miles when I got it)

I would rebuilt the stock rocker arms (Harlan Sharp) before doing the lifters. If you have the coin do both. The rocker arms fail more often.

I'll be using stock lifters at 7000 RPM with .650" lift.

The OEM lifters have been updated some since 99 as they're also used in the LS7 with a 7000 stock redline and a warranty. They're $135 from Texas Speed.

My thought is to get new OEM's if you're just doing a cam or head/cam swap on a stock bottom end. There's no use in getting bulletproof lifters since it's best to stay under 7000 on a stock bottom if you want it to last awhile. If you're building the motor get the Caddy Racing lifters.

LS7 lifters FTW!!... cheap, proven performance.

like everyone said, if your spinning the motor high enough for *updated* LSX lifters to handle then you would probably wanna think about rod bolts and bearings before the lifters.

The caddy lifters are a good upgrade, but I've got more than a few LS1 and LS6 motors out there with stock lifters and there are doing great.

The last one we did was a LS1 block with a 4.125 bore sleeve kit, 427 c.i.
It puts down 551 rear wheel HP and 515 rear wheel torque. Stock lifters, this car sees 6500 rpm everytime it's out.

I'm running a 423" iron block with a .628/.645 lift cam. I'm wondering if I should install new lifters or keep these ones. I've had them to 6800 several times with the old motor (cam had .596/.596). They've got about 63k on them.

I replaced mine at 33000 miles during my head swap with new stock lifters. They look like they were redesigned from the original lifters. The roller area is fully enclosed on the new ones.
