Guys, I just got my cam today and discovered by the chart on Raughammers page that it is indeed a regular xe grind and not an xe-r (grind # 3715R/3715R). The cam is a 224/224 110lsa, 106 intake centerline, 565/565 lift that was requested to be put on xe-r lobes. My question to you is do you think it is worth it to send it back and get it ground on xe-r lobes? Do you think that xe-r lobes will make a ton more power then xe lobes.

Raughammer went 10.8 with the C1 ( XE 566' 222 ) and 10.6 with C2 (XE-R 581' 224 ) . 2 tenths gain , but the C2 also has more lift and duration . So it would seem an XE-R vs XE with identical lift , duration and LSA , would only be a tenth quicker , if that . Thats assuming his car did a perfect run with the C2 .
Maybe Raughammer can chime in .

And I doubt the cam can be reground without changing the base circle becuase of the lift difference.

Daily,
I've talked with Comp before on this same issue.
Comp doesn't not offer an XE-R lobe with .568 lift. Despite what you may have been told, Comp doesn't not have XE-R grinds with less than .581 lift.
If you want to create a new master pattern and have Comp CREATE a whole new profile for you then you can get whatever you spec out. This will require a MASTER fee. The master fee is $300 to $500 depending on what you work out with Comp. This is just for the pattern development. The actual cam IS NOT included in the mastering cost.
I think:
With a good set of ported heads there will be a difference in the power of a 224 XE vs a 224 XE-R.
With stock heads there won't be much if any difference in a 224 XE vs 224 XE-R.
Hope this helps.
