Default Double Rollmaster vs. Single Rollmaster

Any reason to use a single Jwis/Rollmaster chain/gear setup over the double? I'd really rather have the single one since you dont have to shim the oil pump and less noise, but it can only be purchased from Australia. I'm not worried about the single being weaker than the double. Any thoughts?

It's my understanding everything needed for the Double Roller is in the kit. My car has the double and if I recall correctly the oil pump didn't have to be shimmed.

BTW the 2xRoller is sweet!

Maybe someone else can clear this up. I'll ask SRP tomorrow when I dyno my car. Email me and I should have the right answer for sure tomorrrow.

Ya... Everything is in the double roller kit, and it does need to be shimmed.

For 66 bucks (delivered), you can get the single Jewis chain and Rollmaster gears from Darren in Australia. I can't see any reason you would need anything better than that setup.. But thats your call.

Timing Chain Set, Rollmaster/Jwis, $66
KB Engine Parts (Australia), Darren

kbengineparts@hotmail.com

Took a couple of days to get a reply via his e-mail address, but once I sent him my card number, Darren had the parts to me in Phoenix within about 6 days of mailing. Billed my Mastercard $66.85

Very clean deal with no problems.

Ron,

I got my single row Rollmaster through HOWQUICK (John Lloyd at Streetquick Performance - email: streetquick@bigpond.com ). With shipping from Australia it came to ~$80 if I remember correctly. This setup is plenty for a heads/cam application and is a direct replacement. No shimming or oil pan removal required. I can email pics to those interested. John was a great guy to deal with - fast, friendly, and no problems.

Did you receive [for $66] what is pictured above, but as a single roller part?

Thanks!

Is it a lot harder to install a double than a single?

I guess my question might have been quit confusing. Does the single rollmaster allow you to advance or retard the cam like the double rollmaster chain allows.

I am in Korea. The single timing set I ordered from KB Engines was delivered to Phoenix. I have not seen it yet, but, there is only one (1) single Rollmaster set avail.

The gears are made by Rollmaster (Romac Inc)in Australia. The chain is made in Germany by Iwis Ketten. BTW, Rollmaster [does not] manufacture chain.

I was told that the single set has an adjustable crank gear. Can be adjusted in increments of 2 degrees.
