Motor swap
What would the best motor be to swap out with the ls1?
LS2- ready to run, plenty of performance mods available, not sure on price
LS7- ready to run, but very expensive
408- Not sure how many cubes i can get, how cheap to build?
LSX- New GM block, Pro- can be bored out to a 454, Con- no idea on price, nor place to find it
Any input would be appreciated, if i'm in the wrong section feel free to move it, i just thought this might be a good place... thanks
PS- feel free to suggest any other motor
Rotating assebmly/valetrain-~3.5K(maybe less depending on what parts you buy)
TFS or ETP headfs- ~2.5K
FAST90/90- 1.1K
Thats a rough estimate but should be close.

Think of where you want to start and where you want to go. If you are going to replace your heads and valve train, then the LS2 is cheaper and you'll have a similar result as an LS7 that's twice the price. If you are going for those 8s 1/4's, then LSX is probably the way to go.
There's also the question of how much you want to do. Block up? Bolt ons only? Stock?
If this is a daily driver, please remember that higher displacement will probably mean lower gas mileage. If this is not a daily driver, then there is no replacement for displacement

Very big point here. Gas mileage in a daily driver.
