Default Recommended cam for Patriot stage II heads.

Hi, I need a cam to go along with some patriot stage 2 heads. I live in CA so the car still needs to pass smog at some point. I want something that won't give up low end power, I was considering the cheatr cam but was told to stay away as it doesn't wake up until the upper rpm range.

I should have mentioned that I know very little about this sort of thing . Are those specs or models?

Thanks.

i can tell ya the 228r off the top of my head, the tr224 i cant

228/228 .588/.588 112 or 114lsa, 114lsa will pass emissions easier. I dont know if either cam will pass but theres quite a few people running it in some strict states. Im sure you will get more help from some others who know a wider range of cams

Those are specs. I have that same setup and it works very well on the street, I uesed to daily drive the car but not to much any more. My car runs good at the track. I don't know about cali. smog test, here in st louis they just do a plug in test were they check for codes and pass you threw

They hook the car up to a sniffer here in Cali, they also do inspections, anything that is not stock had better have a carb sticker. People here are idiots. Would this spec drive like stock? I'm looking for something that will be easy to drive, has more power throughout the band (not just up top), and get the same or better mileage after a tune. So far I've been told the cheatr cam is a bad choice with aftermarket heads because all of the power is up top (don't get me wrong, I will be going to the track more and that would certainly help but it's a 99% street car).
