Head/cam swap complete...got a question. Everything went perfect and the car fired up the first crank. I let it idle for a good 3 minutes watching temp and oil pressure. Now, I had filled the radiator, and I thought that when the t-stat opened, the fluid in the radiator would go down by a significant amount? Mine never went down more than maybe an inch. Now when I go check it after the car has been off for 10 minutes, it goes down an inch every 10 minutes or so. Whats the deal? (no leaks on the floor either) The temp guage never went over 200 so im guessing the t-stat opened ok?

Re: Head/cam swap complete...got a question. the reason is that the cooling system is seriously air bound. let the temp come up to operating temp, then shut the car down. let it sit a couple of hours untill it cools down. as it cools, the coolant will draw in as the air escapes. that usually works. hope this helps.... <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

Re: Head/cam swap complete...got a question. Manual has a procedure for this. Fill the rad and recovery tank. Start engine and alternately rev to 3K for 30 secs and idle for 30 secs until temp is 210F. Shut off car and fill recovery tank. Repeat procedure and shut off car.
