engine sounds like its clapping????

Default engine sounds like its clapping????
My car has 80,000 on it and about 10,000 miles ago my engine started making a clapping sound. Has anybody had this problem or heard of this?

You still drove 10,000 miles with this sound? How loud is it? Is the engine running rough, or like normal just with the clapping sound? Can you tell if the sound is coming from the top or the bottom of the motor?

It sounds as it is a lifter or rocker tapping but it does it throughout the entire RPM range. No its not running rough, it just claps or taps. Sound is coming from the top of the motor for sure.

might have bent a valve but probably a pushrod...it could even be a rocker arm bearing, ls1s are notorious for bad ra bearings

yea it does it during the whole RPM range. Its louder when its cold but you can still hear it when it warms up.
