Cleaning Solvent

I have a disassembled Ls1 an it needs some cleaning. What cleaning solvent would be safe to use on the aluminum block?

Brake Parts Cleaner.....I use it for everything. Most of it evaporates off and doesn't leave much residue. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
