Re: Mobil One Oil Question 15w-50 is going to be too thick for your motor unless you have an upgraded oil pump and a need for it. Otherwise, you run some risk of *minor* oil starvation issues with some of the tigher oil passages.
On the flip side, I am running 15w-50 because I have both a high volume oil pump and a need for it. But don't run the thicker stuff until you are both set up for it and need it. Applications that produce a lot of torque, such as nitrous/forced induction/stroker motors should probably use the thick stuff since more bearing protection is needed in those cases.

Mobil One Oil Question I just got back from K-mart where i purchased a case of Mobil 1 10W-30. Mobil claims that this is their multi-vehicle formula. 5W-30 is their new car formula, and 15W-50 is their race proven performance formula. Now me being a warm-blooded, LS1 driving man, I go "hmmmmmm, performance formula eh?" Is this just all hype or is there really something behind this. I have run 10W-30 in my cars forever, including my camaro.

Re: Mobil One Oil Question That's just Mobil talking. If a car needs the thicker stuff then it should be used. Otherwise you're theoretically losing a little power and fuel efficiency (albeit an almost unmeasureable amount, IMO.)
