Questions on 4.8L heads

Questions on 4.8L heads I see a lot of people using ported 4.8L truck heads on LS1's and turning good numbers. Where can I get a set of these heads and approx. what do they cost. I hear they are cheaper than LS1 heads, but are they any cheaper to have ported?
And do they bolt right on to the motor or do they have to be modified in any way?

Re: Questions on 4.8L heads Contact valve god I believe he sales them for 300 bucks or so and modifications are needed to bolt onto the block.Not sure about port work as I have never looked into a set.

Re: Questions on 4.8L heads ARE(agostino racing engines) is were i got mine from. i payed the regular price for the stage 1 LS1 heads, then paid an extra 150.00 for the truck heads, & another 150.00 for a better port job(optional).i love mine. MTI is good but a little high & GTP is good as well but about 200.00 more for stage 2 heads than ARE last time i checked, could be wrong.just trying to give u different options, i don't know your budget.Thunder racing sells them & all these are sponsors over to the right. most will not say truck head or 5.3 head on the sight. i think u have to trade a set of truck heads in or they will not let u get them, some will charge u your core plus anywhere from 150- 300 dollars to upgrade extra.hope that helps.

Re: Questions on 4.8L heads Don't forget ebay. I got a set of 4.8's (used assembled) awhile back for $180. I think I lucked out because he didn't list them as ls1 heads, which they really arent. They are going to TEA soon.

Those things sat at $99 with no bids until 4 minutes of the auction. I was bidding at same time. Looked back at price and it had jumped from the opening $99 to $180. I was going to give $150 for them, thought they might be bad since no one had bid.
