Hot Cam?
Yes, i got a double roller timing chain and oil pump. U dont need to buy the double roller since i've heard the ls2 timing chain is strong and priced well
. Since you drive a A4 you will need to get a tune. Also, is this the same D James from CamaroZ28.com that lives by me (Livonia, MI) that I've tried to contact from time to time and doesn't return PM's?

i think everyone knows a tune is required with any cam change. However, u are able to drive the car without the tune when running a hotcam with an M6. The car didnt' cut off on me and the power was pretty impressive for a small cam non tuned. Just get ready to feel the car bucking below 1500 rpms HA.
Yes, you are able to drive the cam. Like, drive it to get it tuned. The air/fuel ratio is WAY off and you can damage your engine by running too rich or to lean. Revving it up where you can feel the power is stupid, as a the effects of a fuel problem are only magnified with RPM.
The previous owner of the green car in sig went 11.57@ 117 with a hot cam + heads and all the supporting bolt ons with a 3800 stall. Right now it has stock exhaust, same heads with an LS6 cam, no other power mods, stock stall with 4:10's, the car is real fun to drive, and passes smog all day long!

I have a 99 A4 SS with the HotCam kit. Stock TC and has 3.73 gears. Without a tune, a bitch to drive. with a tune it can be almost like stock. With a slight lope though
. Have SLP Longtubes w/ catted Y and Dynomax Bullet Muffler and Borla Cat-Back. QTP Cutout at the Borla flange, when it is open the car sounds nasty. Had the car dynoed before headers and full exhaust, car made 320rwhp. The headers and exhaust made a big difference in power, WOW. No dyno since, so can't compare. You will need a tune, but the cam is a fun one to have if you are not looking for way big hp numbers. I drove the car without tune for 2 weeks with no probs but the bucking. Also the check engine light was throwing code 0300 which is common for the cam swap. I don't disagree a tune is required with any cam swap, but the car was running great plus i checked the plugs before the tune to see if the car had a rich/lean condition.
