Default How thick is too thick?

The motor I ordered from Scoggin has flat tops with -2cc valve reliefs and the piston is at Zero. To achieve the 11.75 compression I wanted, they recommended 64cc heads and .065" cometic head gaskets.

With the gaskets being this thick, are they going to be a weak point on a 150 shot of nitrous or should I be okay. Would it be safer to go with 68 or 70cc and a thinner gasket?

Thanks
Jeff

run the thinnest gasket possible and use the head cc to optimize compression

Yeah, I'm rethinking it. I'm thinking more of 70cc chamber and .041" head gasket instead. I'm also thinking about putting head studs in as well.

If your pistons are at 0, then run a .035 cometic and size up the chamber accordingly.

If not, you first need to determine your piston/deck value and then choose the gasket accordingly.
Idealy you want .035>.040 quench.

BTW:
Quench = Piston to deck value - crushed (compressed) gasket thickness
