I was changing my oil and I saw this part on the engine block. Its got a opening at the end of the tube, and I hope its not supposed to be hooked up to anything, because mine isnt :o

Anyone seen it before?

lol yeah that is just a provision that is unused on most ls1s as far as any I've seen. I think people are using that piece as a priming tool somehow these days. Don't worry about it.
it is just a adapter that can be use to add a oil sender unit.. I think it is just used to bypass the oil system when an oil cooler is not used. I think some HD truck use it for the oil cooler.

It's just a block off. It's is removed and replaced with an adapter they has tubing running from it that goes to an oil cooler for the LS truck engines. You can buy the adapter at the GM parts counter if you want to intall an oil cooler on you engine. The adapter comes with the fittings and hanger brackets that bolt right up to the block. All you need to buy is a few feet of oil line(1/2" I.D.), some small hose clamps and the cooler with 1/2" hose barbs. They come stock on the trucks that have the 6.0 liter, but can be mounted on any type of LS series.
