Default what's the difference between 5.3L and LS6?

Can someone explain the difference between a 5.3L set of heads (like PRC 5.3L Heads) and a set of LS6 Heads. Is it just liter size? What about power difference? What makes one better than the other?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just don't know. The main reason I'm asking is because I am looking at purchasing a heads/cam combo. Price does play a factor. So, I'm looking at several sets. Patriot Perfomrance 243's, or Patriot LS6 Stage 2 with their cam 226/226 Dur. @.050 .585"/.585" Lift 112 LSA, Precison Race Components Stg 2.5 5.3L with tourqer V.2 or V.3, or the PRC LS6 Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads (these heads are the most expensive of the 4 listed so I don't want ot pay more than these). Obviously, I want the best bang for the buck.

I already have the whisper lid, LS6 Intake, Jet hot LTs and ORY pipe and larger than stock MAF, M6.

Thanks for the help and knowledge guys!

well the 5.3 liter heads have a smaller combustion chamber than the ls6 ones, so you can bump your compression w/o having to mill them. Some prefer the ls6 style because they flow a little better, and offer more piston to valve clearance.

So are you saying that I can get more power out the LS6 heads?

In theory yes, but if you are on a budget, i think the 5.3 heads and the cam (226/226) you chose would be a good combo, definitely.

not to fimiliar with 5.3 cnc heads compared to cnc LS6 but, stock wise LS6 flow better and bigger valves stock wise. after market I think only difference is chamber size. not sure if u r limited valve size with 5.3's. more searching would need to be done. I'm hoping this will give u somrthing to look for/at.

You will get mixed results on this question. I was sold on the PRC stage 2.5 5.3's. I was loooking for the best bang fro the buck and I hope that is what these offer.
