DIY H/C install
Snap on sells one and GM High Tech Performance did a build up of an LS1 and the tools required for a rebuild. If you do not want to buy the tool you can mark the bolts before the turn and just turn them the specified degrees. With the motor in the car the tool would be the best route.

I tq'd them a specified with tq wrench then marked a line halfway down the bolt head and used as a reference when tq degreed bolts. 10k plus with 11:3.1 comp still holding. 
Also, be very careful when taking off the intake. The power brake booser vacuum hose is wrapped behind the oil pressure sending unit on the top part of the block by the firewall. A lot of people give a good "tug" to get the intake off and break the sending unit. It's only plastic on top. Be careful.
Also, make sure you clean the cylinder heads bolt holes really really good. Any fluid in there and you'll crack the cylinder block. Any dirt and you'll get a false torque read.
Just follow the install university steps and you'll do fine.
