Another Oil Pump Question
Another Oil Pump Question Ok, it's time to order the new oil pump for my 99 WS6. Doing cam and heads swap. I have only found one post regarding oil pump clearance with a double roller timing chain install ( https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...oller+oil+pump ). It seems to me that some people need to put in the shims while others have no clearance issues at all. Then there are those who are grinding the pump so it has clearance on the chain. I just want to make sure if I get a ported LS6 or melling high volume pump that all I'm going to need to do is install the shims. Does it vary on different year LS1 blocks?
melling #10296 pump, install the blue spring. the shims provided will clear the double roller timing set without any grinding of oil pump body. trust me, i've installed quite a few. good luck.
