friend of mine has a stock 02' z28 m6 and wants to do heads and cam. he is talking about doing the ls6 heads and cam, which i think he can get more power for less money by going aftermarket. i dont know jack diddly about who's heads are good for ls1's and i tried searching and found nothing conclusive. im looking for some suggestions, i know there is big power from heads and cam ls1's and i dont want my friend to waste a bunch of money, he said he can make 400crank hp with the ls6 kit, but i just know he can do better than that. he was also talking about doing a $3200 bolt on kit from summit until i smacked him
any help is greatly appreciated.

 

he can make over 400 with just a cam. I would tell him to get a cam in the 228-232 range or smaller with some TSP ls6 heads and he will make very good streetable power.

Have him look at the sponosors to the right, most of them have a heads and cam package that he can pick and choose.

What does he want from it- race it or DD it.

 

are you talking about unported LS6 heads and an LS6 cam?

Im making 508RW with CARTEK 4x ported LS6 heads and a custom cam.

 

i think with the stock ls6 (unported) heads and stock ls6 cam he said would make 400. it will be for a daily driver. he was also looking at some ported and polished ls6 heads that were not assembled for about the same price.

 

tell him to get some TSP ls6 or 5.3 heads, and go with a bigger cam.

With stock ls6 heads and cam he won't break 400.

have him look at a cheater cam.
