Default Hotcam Afficionados Come On In, And Answer This!!

1. I want to know what kind of horsepower you guys are making?
2. What do you like and dislike about the hotcam?
3. What kind of tuning program did you use?
4. Did you use the cam only or did you have heads to go with it?
5. What advice do you offer me before I get it installed,ie pushrods and PR lengths,springs,LS2 oil pump,LS2 timing chain?

All replys will be greatly appreciated!!

i ran the Hotcam for about 3 years, just recently took it out for new heads and cam...

1. i picked up about 30 rwhp with the cam and a tune
2. i liked the rough idle, but wanted more power
3. LS1edit... the program you use isn't as important as the fact that you WILL need a custom dyno tune
4. cam only
5. you MUST have atleast LS6 springs or better, and an LS2 timing chain is so cheap it would be a good idea to get one of those. 7.4 pushrods could be done later (i waited until i found a good deal on them)

I have it and I like it. I picked up 36rwhp and a tune, cam only. With stock LS6 heads i picked up another 12. Got some nice torque out of that combo, curve is nice and flat.

I had the hotcam for about 1 year (2 years ago)
I picked up 31rwhp (338-369)just putting it in and another 14 (369-383)with the tune
this was through stock 843 heads and LS1 intake and a 6-speed with a 12 bolt
I like the idle untuned, good torque
Used LS6 springs stock retainers, push rods and timing chain

I swapped it out for a 238/242 cam gained another 28rwhp over the hotcam and sounds meaner

but I still think the HotCam is a good one for a daily driver

When i get my IAC issues smoothed out I think it will make an excellent daily driver. Like I said in another thread I started, I got 29MPG with my M6 on the interstate with the A/C on. Power is good I guess. I havent dynod and I havent ridden in another cammed LS1 ever.
