Default No Oil Pressure!!! Help

Hey I started my Z28 this morning looked at the gauges and no FU#%^ng oil pressure! Thought it was a gauge malfunction till my valves started ticking like crazy,Just did my cam swap three weeks ago and have had no problem with oil pressure till I cranked upp this morning, My Jedi sinces tell me I burnt the oil pump up after my last run at the track last weekend, it was the stock one..... I didnt upgrade could it be anything else?

hey I want to throw this in there, I just called my buddy at my Local dealership and got him to look up the LS6 oil pump for me, I told him I need the pump out of a 2002 Z06 Corvette and he said the part number was the same for the Ls1 pump Ls6 and 6.0 truck engine??? Did GM parts discontinue the old ls1 pump and substitue the ls6 in its place or is this guy pulling on my dick.

They might have. I know the lifters are now the LS7 lifters for OEM replacement. I wouldn't be suprised.

Hopefully its the pump and not a spun bearing, like I have as of right now

Spun bearing as is out comes my motor??? also when I get that pump out how will I Tell its Burnt up? Meatal shavings,Discoloration ETC ETC.

Yes your motor will have to come out if that is the problem, have you been driving it for the 3 weeks after the cam swap. Maybe the spring is stuck open check that out. Good luck hope it works out ok.

the pump in 97-00 lsx engines were junk and discontinued thats why the numbers match...

It's unlikely that the oil pump is "burned up" as the conditions it would take to render that gerotor oil pump unable to displace oil would destroy a lot of other engine components first.

It's possible that the pump's pressure regulation valve stuck, which would cause very low oil pressure at idle. This seems to be the most common failure in LS1 pumps (aside from o-ring installation error) and is an engine killer.

The good news is that you probably shut the engine off before it was trashed. I'd drain the oil from the pan and run a magnet thru it, see what kind of metal shavings you get.

yea I caught it really quick, it was just idling in my garage and I was screwing with something else and heard my valves a rocker arms making a hell of alot of noise,darted to my gauges saw there was no oil pressure and killed it. It probaly ran for like a 45 sec max. but still thats 45 sec with no oil than what was just left from the last time I drove it. Man im praying this thing is gonna be ok! I got the money to fix it if I burnt it up, but im leaving to go to Auburn in 3 months and I just dont know if I have the time.......but than again it would be BadASS to roll up in aburn with a 383 stoker Camaro on my Trailor, Id Give all those rich Frat boys with there SVTS a run for their $$$$$

pary to god its an oil pump and that fixes it...otherwise...you will be where I'm at:
