Oil pressure to high?

Default Oil pressure to high?
I bought a used 2003 silverado with the 5.3. It has 39k miles on it. Well the oil pressure is saying it is way over 80 psi when accelerating, does this sound right?

ever overfilled it?, check it with a manual gauge

is engine warmed up at that psi?

Yes, I'm starting to think its the gauge because the gauge won't reset to 0 when I start the truck and it is really jerky as if its sticking.

Might also be the oil pressure sending unit

could be the bypass valve in the pump is stuck.

You need to put a manual gauge on it...that will tell you what's really going on.
