Stock Block crank build?
Stock Block/crank build, new pistons/rods? Well I am trying to decide if I should tear the motor down and rebuild it after I found a couple very light scratches in a cylinder wall. I got the motor used w/ ~64k miles on it. I have never started it and was told it ran when I got it.
The marks might not make any difference at all and I probably would be running it right now if I hadn't decided to pull the heads to do caddy lifters, but now that I found them what do I do? I am thinking about slapping it together and driving the **** out of it, but I have some concerns.
If I decide to pull it apart what should I do for the rebuild? Tq plate hone/bore, forged pistons/rods, new bearings? Anything else I should do?
What pistons and rods do you recommend?
Will be running cam only for now ~400rwhp and possibly a power adder down the road ~600rwhp. What will it cost me to do pistons, rods and bearings? I have heard machine work and assembly will be around $700-900.
