Default New Crane Valve Springs

Just got my new Crane Newletter, they have two new springs for the LSx motor. Interesting one is now a beehive design. Might be worth a look since the 918's seem to be having some issues recently.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Crane Cams “New” Conical (Beehive) Spring For LSX Heads - Part No. 99831-16

Features PACALOY: ensures the highest quality of super clean, high strength, superior alloy, valve spring wire.
Reduced retainer-end mass for improved RPM potential
Thinner cross-section wire for more coil bind clearance to allow for higher lift camshafts and/or larger rocker ratios.
Highly variable/dual rate springs for reduced coil surging. Reduced coil surging provides improved valve control while improving the fatigue life.
The ovate wire shape more evenly distributes stress throughout the wire cross-section.
Use new Part No. 99637-16 matching titanium retainer.

Crane Cams “New” Competition “PAC-Enhanced” Single Spring For LSX Cly. Heads -
Part No. 144845-16

This new spring was tested under grueling 24 hours of Daytona in a Daytona prototype using a Crane mechanical roller cam for LS1. The engine experienced Zero valve train issues. The same springs ran two 3-hour races and one 6-hour race before a scheduled rebuild. The tear-down showed no evidence of any potential valve train problems.

The new spring is designed with a minimum number of active coils, which results in a high natural frequency and low inertia. The low active coil count design, coupled with the superior fatigue life of the “enhancement” process, provides an outstanding spring for LSX engines.

Use new Part No. 99658-16 titanium retainer for this application. Use Crane Cams Multi-Fit machined steel locks, Part No. 99107-1.
