Lifters Bleeding Out in 10 min?
Lifters Bleeding Out in 10 min? I just installed a new Torquer V.2 cam along with 918 springs and stock length push rods. Dynoed it last night and it only made 363 whp. Well we pulled the valve cover off today since Texas Speed said to check the lifter pre-load. When we got the passenger side valve cover off I was amazed to see all of the rocker arms lined up, meaning all of the lifters had already bled out. We checked to see what the rocker arms were torqued to, and discovered that in order to get the rockers tight they had to be .030 over torqued compared to what TSP had told us to torque them to. Meaning the lifter is absorbing this extra pre-load therefore losing lift on the cam. Does this mean I have to buy adjustable rocker arms or are there shims you can buy to put in between where the rocker bolts to the head? I've never heard of anyone having this problem, please help!

Are you saying none of the valves were held open? The lifters can't bleed down enough to close the valve. I think there is another issue if this is the case. Also not sure what you mean by 0.030 over torqued. Once you bottom the rocker, any further tightening simply preloads the bolt, not the lifter so further tightening beyond 22 lb-ft won't change the preload but can cause issues with the bolt/threads in the head.
