How to check for bent valves???
I plan on pulling my passenger side head off today, whats the best way to check for a bent valve??
Also i'll be checking my lifters on that side also, how do you check for a collasped lifter.

If the head is already off, pull the valve out and roll it on a very flat surface (like a mirror or glass plane). If it wobbles, it's bent.
Another way (if head is on motor) is via a compression or leakdown test.
Or, if the valve is sitting .1" lower than the others around it (like on my '94), it's pretty obvious.

If you got the head off you can see if the combustion chamber will hold a fluid. The lifter is a little more difficult.., you can push down on all of them with a push rod , they all should have a little spring back to them. But if they bled down this wont work . If you suspect a problem what's 200 for a set?

Re: How to check for bent valves???
So much for taking the head off today. I couldnt get the freakin header off the ORP. I got all the nuts off of the studs. I was hoping i could pull the head right off with the headers hanging there but the stupid header wont let the heads come up all the way. I tried pulling the ORP but it just wanted no part of me. I guess maybe i should heat the pipe up and see if i can turn it.
