Default Hone with torque plates

Do I need to have my block honed with torque plates for a 3.905 bore?
What is the beneifit and is it nessacary?

Having torque plates installed mimics the stresses the block would actually have with the heads bolted on, therefore making the bore that much more concentric when assembled.

The GEN III blocks distort a good bit in the upper portion on the cylinder bores with torque plates attached. I would highly recommend you use them when honing the block.

welll honing with torque plates is what I will do.

I'd insist on having it done with torque plates. Best to do it right the first time as others have said.
