Default New Engine Break-in Procedure

I just started my motor for the first time today, and was wondering what the proper break-in procedure was. Thanks in advance.

If it was a crate motor that was blue-printed, I'd say beat it from the get-go My H/C motor got a couple hundred miles of sub3500 rpm's.

If you beat that new motor you'll be one of these guys needing an oil catch can. Adding quarts of oil between oil changes. Unless you have an all out racing motor which needs no break in. Otherwise slowly work up the rpm's you use over about 2 to 3 thousand miles. Then you will have a motor that keeps it's compression never uses oil and runs strong for years. Always worked for me. I know a little about this, I have rebuilt over 100 engines. Also the LS1 has thin narrow rings for less friction, they were going for MPG. So they need even more care on break in.
