Default Problem w/ ARP head stud

Any one have a problem removing the studs???? I'm having a bitch of a time removing 2 of the little studs. I've already twisted 2 socket tips and I'm afraid to strip out the tip of the stud and never get it out. What do you guys use????

I had a PITA time with one of the large bolts, but never with the smaller one ...

I used allen keys and also a socket bit. I made sure they fit very snug and there was no play ... I was also afraid of stripping them.

Call Snap On and get out the plastic. It's called a stud removal/install kit. It comes in a pretty red hard molded plastic case which justifies the extra cost.

Double nut trick. Sounds perverted but it's not. All you have to do is thread two nuts on the stud and tighten them together really tight by turning the bottom one counter-clockwise and the top one clockwise. This will give you a "head" to put a wrench on and twist it out. If the nuts turn on the threads when you try to reomove the stud, then tighten them more.

Just curious: Why do you need to remove the studs?

That got me thinking. Most of the studs broke loose when I was removing the heads. So obviously just remove them and make sure the holes on the block are clean and dry. So would it be o.k. to just put the new heads on with those studs without going thru the trouble of trying to remove them???? I mean those suckers won't budge. Today I tried another tip and a Craftsman hex key and twisted them both..............
