If you just use the LQ4 and use all of the accessories and sensor from your car and old engine.. it will run, but many not be the best idle or response. But as you say, your headed to a turner anyway and it is a moot issue, don't dwell on it then.

Are you going to put a exhaust system on .. use cut-out?... or just leave it open till the day it dies ? With that cam and open header.. I would expect you will be short on low end power/TQ utill you get it up into the power range that the cam is intended for, may not be any fun to DD it, but will sound great as you head to the local hang out.

The only thing about running open headers (other than a ticket) is that if you shutdown in a cold or windy day, that cold air could make its way up the header tube and be hitting the valves and heads and there could be a possiblity for bend or warped valve from the metal cooling off to quick, At lease that is what many have blamed it on by running short open headers in the past.
You see many race dragsters, sportmen class cars / trucks that have flapper on the collector to keep the cold are from making its way back onto the valve and heads.

you ask for my 2 cents.. .. there it is.
