Default Front to Rear Steam Tube Connection???

Instead of keeping the rear steam tubes blocked off as is necessary with the LS6 and Fast manifolds, has anyone considered a reconnection like there used to be under the old LS1 intake? Two of my friends have wiped out #7 and I'm wondering if there could be a correlation. I'm doing a 408 and am reconnecting the front and rear steam tubes with hopes of eliminating any trapped air in the rear head area.

Could put a front crossover tube in the rear...

and then connect hoses from front and rear tubes to a Y fitting which then goes to radiator neck...

I am considering doing this, I'm collecting parts.

I have a front crossover tube for the rear. The motor has been out of the car since last November and I can't remember how much clearance there is back there. I plan on using rubber tubing in the back and then running a piece of 5/16" brake line on the passenger side along the edge of the intake manifold and valve cover. In front I'll connect using a tee.

I'm really loooking for a discussion on the merits of doing this and the possible relationship of plugged rear steam vents and #7 failure.

We always connect the rear vents in high power engines to clear air from the head, but not sure if its the cause of cyl 7 damage. I think of it like this, there is no way venting can hurt you.....

Kurt, thanks for the input. Do you use a front crossover in the rear and connect the front and rear above the intake manifold? One guy said he used the old LS1 steam tube set and ground down the bottom of either his Fast or LS6 intake. I looked at doing it that way and it might work, but I think an above install is more practical.

I have not used the front crossover in the rear, but it should work. I have some with old LS1 4 corner tubes, and some we drill the block off type and silver solder a -4 AN fitting on, then plumb with individual lines.

I believe Vinci High Performance sells a kit to do exactly what you are asking.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>

I may do it on my next head swap, but the FAST sticks out more in the rear so I'm not sure it will fit.
