How much horse power can a stock ls1/ls6 take? I have heard that 600 is limit.

Not many of the veterans here are gonna take the time to even answer this question because its kinda silly..

The answer is that it depends on a lot of things. With a bad tune a stock engine can let go on you. But I believe people have pushed the stock bottom end to 900+ whp...

Do you have to depend on the engine every day?? If so I wouldent push it past 500whp... but other people will tell you differently.

HP is irrelevant. Will you run your car lean? Will you burn a piston on a poorly tuned shot? Will you run too much timing? Will you ping while spraying or under boost? Will you spin the motor up too high? Will an injector clog, or will one flow less than the others? When the moon stars and planets all align and everything works perfectly, a few have gently coaxed their stock shortblocks north of 800. Others who are less fortunate have toasted their motors without making it to 400. A safe and reserved combo and a conservitive tune go a long way.
