Stock crank heat treat
Anybody know if the journals of the stock GM nodular iron cranks are heat treated (induction hardened, nitrided, etc.) from the factory? It is my understanding that this process is necessary after grinding of most cranks during reconditioning, but I am unsure if even a small amount of grinding is enough to eat through this layer (if there is one at all).
Thanks for the assistance.
