TSP 2.5's in A4

Decided to go with TSP's 2.5 5.3's, I have been religiously reading forums on cam selection's but its seems like once there is the letter's 'A4' mentioned it throws another wrench in? I currently have 55,000 miles on my 2001 WS6. I have 90maf, ported MTI 75 TB, SLP headers/y pipe/borla cat back, shift kit, 3200 stall, 3.42's, mickey 315 ET's, suspension and MTI tune. Also am thinking of throwing on a U/D pulley with the install. My real question is what is the ideal cam. As long as I have decent drivability I don't care otherwise. It will mostly be a DD, with occasional track time, but I just want to really kick as on the street. I like the Reverse split graph's like the TR 230/224. I also like the TSP Tourqer 2, which I think is the largest I would go unless you think with these mod's drivability would be decent still. I like the feedback from the MS4 too, but think it might be too big? I would really like a minimum of 425rwhp. It makes it even more tough living in Canada too. I think if I had a M6, I could make up my mind easier but would really like some input on the A4 setup and results. Thanks a million, want to get these parts ordered so I can still catch summer with them!

Im an A4 with those heads with a tr224/112 cam and ported fast 90/90 and put down 417rwhp 407 rwt.Its very streetable.I could get more RWHP if I add a pulley, but I'm worried about charging issues.I may go a little bigger on the cam maybe g5x1. The Ms4 wont fit,I think the Ms3 will.I would really like to be around 440rwhp in 346ci,but it will take a BIG cam and fly cut pistoms, abd it wont be very streetable and have to spin it high.A4 are not dyno queens, but Ive out ran people with sticks who have higher dyno numbers than me.Thats why if I swap it out i dont want to go too big just bigger than my Tr224,but I may keep it cuz it may not worth the hassle for 10-15 rwhp.Dont know yet,but hopes this helps you out. When I was just cammed and ls6intake i put down 350rwhp,and with the heads and ported fast I'm at 417rwh

with this set up if I added a pulley Im sure ill be at 425rwhp

If he is willing to flycut

TR230 and Those heads will work really good.
Also MTI X1 230/227 112LSA

Why a reverse split with these heads?will these do better tahn a 227/23o .629/.600 112 plus 4

I am curious too, don't get me wrong I really like the tr 230/224 and still think I am going to go with it but will it do better than the 227/230(convention) with the 2.5 heads? I know for stock heads the reverse really shines, what numbers do you think I would produce with that combo in a A4?

I'm currently running a TSP231/237 cam (.598/.598) with LS6 Stage II heads and currently back to my LS6 intake with LT headers. Through a stock A4 with 3200 yank stall I'm putting out 400rwhp/390rwtq. Now before I put the stall in I was running a ported Fast 90/90 set up and pushed a massive 449rwhp/400rwtq. But had to stall the car to keep it from pushing me through stop lights, then pulled the 90/90 off because my tunner seems to have his head n his butt when it comes to idle.

The car would pull like a raped ape with the fast 90/90 set up on once I was about 4k, anything lower than that it was a dog. Now with the way it sets now, I can tell it has more pick up down low and doesn't pull as hard up top.

I sudjest 224/224 or a 228/228 cam or even better call up and have one custom made for your exact application.
Just my .02, hope it helps in your search.
Later, Ken

Thanks guys this all helps, whenver I think about going big I always seem to result back between the 224 and 228 give or take. I guess you can never go wrong with either. Which is why i really like the 230/224, better tourque, easier to tune, and still great power. Cam only with my set-up I guess I really wouldn't go wrong. With this cam and TSP 2.5, do you thin I could get away with stock injectors/and or pump?

Websy21 Jun 29, 2007 10:05 AM

Maybe instead of saying what I'd like for hp since its a lil diff with an A4 setup, how abour 1/4's. I would be more than happy with low 12's, if I broke 11's I would prolly literally wet my panites!!!!!!!

ICRAZY6 Jun 29, 2007 10:51 AM

You stock pump and injectors will be fine for your naturally aspirated set up. Once/if you decide to juice it up you should at least get a pump. I've never ran at the strip but I've ran a guy thats ran 12.0 and was a 2-3 cars ahead of him. So I've got to be pretty close to 12.0-11.8. Planning on running it this fall.

Really, that is awesome Icrazy6, where did you get those heads? Do you think I could do around the same with the TSP 2.5's with the Touquer 2 or even the 228R? Might be alot better for the street, but I hear with a good tune the Touquer 2 has pretty good street manners? Thanks

No, but if high lift is not desired, the reverse will produce more undercurve trq.

Websy21 Jun 30, 2007 02:27 PM

trying to maximize the tourque/power curve wihout going over .oo6 lift was exactly why I want to go with a reverse split around 230/224 and run a tight lsa

I run the T2 on my 5.3's and its pretty streetable with the stall. Pre-stall it was a little hard to drive at low RPM and was a pain to get idle tuned. After stall, I'm really loving it.

I know a couple of guys running 11's on a very similar setup in 04 LS1 GTO's (and am shooting for that myself this fall) and you'll have a better chance with your T/A than they would....I think you probably have a good 150-200 lbs less car to move.

Websy21 Jul 1, 2007 09:27 AM

Ya still undecided, got it narrowed down to either prc 2.5's or TES 1.5's and either tr230/224(orX1) or instead the tourquer 2. I just like how the reverse is suppose to better down low and for the street
