Little help. Just installed a new cam, lifters, rods, locks, and 918 springs. All componets are comp, but i'm getting alot of noise in the valvetrain, ticking,and chatering..kind of sounds like a sewing machine. Is this normal?
It could be normal. One guy around here put a cam in his GTO and thought it was making a ton of valve train noise. We weren't sure if the preload was off or not. It still put down strong numbers and ended up when he got the installation numbers back everything was fine.
Whats teh base circle? If its 1.450 a lot of people have had luck running 7.425 pushrods over th eusual 7.400. Anyway, some increased valvetrain noise is to be expected. The sewing machine noise is heard more often than not. Its worse with dual springs.
