Default Correct way to remove rocker nut with polylock

What is the correct way to remove a rocker nut with a polylock? Is it by first loosing the polylock, then loosing the rocker nut, or is it to loosen the rocker nut first?

I've tried both ways. Polylock method usually results in broken allen head. The other way seems to back out the stud. Last time I didn't care as I was moving the studs to different heads. Guess I will wait and see if anyone has any sure fire methods. I have considered going away from adjustables because of this.

roll the motor overall where the particular valve you are working on is closed(on the basecircle), then loosen the set screw first, then unlossen polylock.

I followed the method of JPH and it came off (with quite a bit of effort). I had a loose rocker. I retightened it and now it's making a sort of "squeaking" sound. I guess the lifter is probably toast.

Reverse question, how tight do you go with them? VHP recommends tightening the jam nut and then rotating the jam nut and the polylock 1/8 turn to lock it down hard. Unfortunately, I can never seem to get them apart again.
