PAC, email Tony@ls1tech.com and copy me (John@ls1tech.com) and we will get that going again. We had spam filter issues with our emails for a couple of weeks so a number of folks did not hear from us.

Oh, and 918's are okay springs, but I would not take them over 6500 and there are a lot of springs that can do more than them.

Did we make those for you or are they Associated Spring/Comp Cams springs.

Just wondering because they match the PAC-1218/ CC 918 advertised specs.

I've been torchering my 918's to 7k for about 4 years. I dropped the limiter down to 6900 as of late. Been hitting it a bit too much for my comfort.

Yep your 918s were made by us... They'll take 7k no problem.

Exactly what do you mean by, "Comp has always stood behind their product"?

1. Any product recalls after known defective batches (NONE)
2. Any reimbursements for destroyed engines (None, that I know about)
3. Any replacements for broken springs (Yes, but big deal)

Basically, these springs have been problematic since the day they first came to market, approximately 5 years ago.

1.) Yes, Comp has been proactively calling customers to try and avoid potential failures, some of which are members of this board...some of which were my customers.
2.) Yes, Comp has been paying out for damages incurred due to the spring failures.
3.) Replacement parts in an instance like this is more than you'd get out of alot of manufacturers/retailers on a race oriented part!

Realistically, they had issues on a few batches in '02, fixed the design and put the blue stripe on them. They were great for years. And now there are known issues on a few batches produced sometime last year.

Ask Texas Speed what batch number you are getting....as long as the springs are fairly new and haven't been on a shelf for close to a year (you don't get old springs from TSP, they move more volume than that!), you're good to go! With the batch number, you can always call Red@CompCams and ask him to check that batch and see if they're among the problem batches.

I have the 918's from late 2004 , are they good with the heavier LT1 valves to 6500 rpm?
And can old springs be nitrided?

Just check recommended install height. LS1 is 1.8, LT1= ?? but if less than 1.8 then need shimming.

The installed height varies. You install the spring and shim it to proper seat pressure. You can have it a little shorter than the recommended 1.8.
I am curious if the spring is capable of holding the heavier LT1 valve as these springs were designed for the LS1 valves which are lighter. I am sure they can, as many use them in LT1's. But when you have PAC on here, might as well ask.

I'm sorry Steve I do not know how much the heavier valve will affect it. If you're using a .600 lift cam or less, you can tighten up your 918s to 1.750" if you experience any float with them at 1.800". If you have agressive lobes I'd suggest installing them at 1.750 right off the bat.
