Default Will a thicker oil solve my burning oil problem?

After I go WOT there is always a puff of blue smoke that comes out of my exhaust. It continues to come out for about 3 or 4 seconds. People tell me that i'm burning oil , but i'm not sure. Will going to a thicker oil solve this problem? Or should I just start using synthetics? I've always ran with Castrol 10W30- 10W40.

Royal Purple 5w30 thins out very quickly, so it won't help the consumption at all. If you really want to stop the consumption, or slow it down dramatically, use 10w40 Amsoil or 10w40 Redline. If these don't slow it down a lot, nothing short of a rebuild will do the trick.
