Too long a pushrod will collapse the lifter and is also a problem. The lifter needs to be able to pump up w/ oil, so there is a "sweet spot."

yeah, you can go too long on the pushrods. i would get the pushrod length tool if you don't know all of your specs on the cam, heads, gaskets, etc. just to make sure.
