Default Coated bearings?

I am rebuilding a motor, looking for the best bearings. Are coated bearings worth doing? If anyone has done these, where can you find them? I am refering to the main, piston journal and cam bearings.

I believe coated bearings are added insurance. You can get the main and rod bearings through clevite or federal mogul and the cam bearings through durabond

A little confused here, all bearings are "coated" You may not notice it, but they all have a thin film coating the babbit. Besides in a perfect world, nothing ever actually touches the bearing surface, so the coating is more to protect it from handling during installation than anything else. Maybe a few more specifics? Like what brand, and what coating the company is advertising.

I know about the babbit coating, I read somewhere about bearings with an extra slippery coating. I'll have to look for the article to be more specific. I'm just looking for anything that will reduce friction a little bit.

Yep, that was exactly what I was looking for. I'll see if I can do these on the block I am putting together.

The coating is really just added insurance. It will only ever do anything for you if you lose oil to them. In normal operation with adequate oil supply there really shouldn't be any friction on the crankshaft, so don't expect an friction reducing coating to do anything for you in terms of power.

I'll give them a shot anyway, assuming they are not overly expensive. There will be some friction, hopefully provided by the oil and not the crank.
