Is 270* Oil Temperature Too Hot???

MRR23, thanks to you and Roger Vinci for pointing out the hot header theory. If your oil filter is getting to 240* then maybe I don't really have a problem. What I don't understand is how some guys are reporting such low oil temps. I'm driving my Vette over to Springhill tomorrow so I'll check the oil temp on it.

I put an aluminum heat shield between the header and oil filter and sensor.The temp dropped maybe 10-15*. I'm also going to put some woven insulation there, similar to what I did some years ago with my clutch line.
I got a laser thermometer today so hopefully I can tell better whats happening. I emailed Erik to see what he thinks.
