Default 347 cam only questions

My friend is on a budget so tell me what you think or if you have ever done a setup like this.

347
fast90
stock ls1 head
cam something big enough to peak around 7000-7200 so we can spin it to 7500

I figured with aftermarket pistons ptv shouldnt be a problem with a monster cam. I am thinking we can get 460-470rwhp cam only. I am trying to get him to atleast buy ls6 heads but I dont think that is going to happen.

well i would go with a forged 347 and get a custom grind cam or go with tsp giant cam. if he cant afford the ls6 heads then i say ditch the 90/90 combo and get something like the ls6 or something(you wont show huge gains from a ls6 to a 90/90) and then get ported ls6 heads.

now is this car on a stock rear end and tranny???? hopefully not and if it is i say get that taken care of first.

It has 3.42s in it, but plans for a 9in spool with 4.11s. 28 inch tire.

Already planning for pistons and rods, stock crank, arp2000s.

Question is can it be done?

242/246 .624/.590 110+2, and do some port work/mill those LS6 heads and port the intake. try to get more static compression in the motor. put a new oil pump in it and timing set while your at it. motor will fall way off before 7200 rpms, don't think you need to turn it any harder than that, unless you want a solid roller. 2 things you want to be concerned with would be lifters and valve springs would be my next area to think about? i use crane lifters, not cheap but i have them in a 347 motor that turns 6900-7000 all day long, and have no problems, and they have proven to run farther out than that. valve springs 140+ on the seat, 400 over the nose.
