Default How good is our stock oil pumps ??

hey guys,
as some of you know i'm about to install my Livernois LS6 stg II heads and tsp 224 xe cam . i was wondering if my stock oil pump on my 02 SS can support the extra pressure ? Will a ported LS6 oil pump be needed ? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything if I did get one. My car only has 30,500 miles on her ( bought her new back in 02 ) . i think the stock one can support my extra mods ,but i just want to get some h/c guys opinions . thanks in advance

Why not upgrade for a lil extra insurance since your going in there. I did, I also have 34,000 miles on mine and decided to get a melling pump and left the high pressure spring. Now my oil pressure stays nice and high.

well i have 422hp ad never had oil pressure problem plus 512 hp with dry NOS shots and never had an oil pressure drop any where.

but its good to feel safe if your oil pump had a long journy on it, mine its 03 and had few miles on it.
but i only recommend swaping after oil pressure check .

Melling makes a high flow/capacity pump for
the LS engines. Highly recommend it if you
have 500+ rwhp and plan to launch hard at
the strip.
