what are 317 heads

got heads off of 6 liter iron truck motor (9-17-04 dated in oil pan) has 317 stamped on the side of heads, and exhaust ports are "D" shaped. please help someone told me they were LS6 heads, if so are they exactly the same comp ratio? thanks for any info.

I'm not the expert on this, but they are definitely not LS6 heads, LS6 heads are 243 castings, that is all that I can help with. I think that the truck heads have a bigger combustion chamber around 72cc maybe?

317 heads are truck heads with 72cc chambers. They will lower the compression of your engine and they do not perform as well as LS6 heads stock for stock.
