Default Weird oil pressure issue..help!!!

first here is the run down on the engine. TSP 370 forged internals, new pump, etc. engine has 500 milles tops.

Last week drove the car to work and when I got there, looked down to see 0 oil pressure!! So shut the car off and restarted it. Pressure jumped up to 20 psi so I drove home and it went up to 40 while driving. So being the negative person I am, jacked up the car and drained oil and changed the oil pump o-ring, the o-ring looked fine but I did it anyways since I was already there. Now here is where it gets weird, put everything back together and changed the oil pressure sending unit for good measure. Took the car around the block and it was still showing 20 psi at an idle and 40 when on the gas but when I let off the throttle and pushed on the brake, it went straight to zero. Car still runs great but that gauge is freaking me out!! And one other little tid bit, I got on the car kinda hard one night and the lights in the dash went out, changed the burnt out fuse & lights came back on. Then restarted the car and no lights in the dash!! So my question is oil pump or electrical gremiln, I am going bezerk so any help is awesome. thanks!!!!

Did you soak the pump in oil before replacing? To me it sounds electrical.

I didnt replace the pump just the o-ring. I dont want to jump to the electrical issue just yet since the gauge is rising with rpm's. I have also heard of using black rtv on the oil pump spacers. yes, no?

Yeah I thought about that ground to, reached back there and it is tight. Of course that doesnt mean anything. Oh yeah one other thing is that it started this after a few runs on the dyno but as was good when we put it back on the trailer. I guess I will be tapping the block tomorrow to find out for sure if it is electrical. Thanks guys!
