Timing chain slop

Timing chain slop I stripped my motor down to the short block since im doing H/C install any way I noticed my timing chain (stock) had a lot of play in it. Im thinking that it was stretched but I dont know what stock would be like. I ordered a LS2 timing chain from GMPD so I hope the play aint as much. Have any of you guys encountered excessive slop in the chain. I am thinking that the chain was the valve train sound that I could not pin point. Oh I used Nitrous on the motor occasionally in the past.
LSX engines do have a bit of timing chain slack compared to older small blocks. The first time I saw one I thought it was stretched also, so I ordered a new chain and it still had about the same amount of slack in it. It's a good idea to change it anyway, especially with the higher spring pressures most are going with these days.
